Competitions Report to Male Members
Gentlemen,
Just a short note of thanks to all those members who have participated in the winter comps programme to-date. Without doubt the decision to run comps weather permitting has been a resounding success. There has been laughter from the winners and hard luck stories from all those who almost won. There has been the odd disqualification all taken in the spirit of the game as it should be at Northenden. It was and will remain our intention to bring camaraderie, competition and build a happy atmosphere within the club on comp days. On Saturday 27th February we move from team events to singles with the start of the 4th/5th/6th qualifying rounds for the Sunderland Trophy. As this is a winter competition it is our intention to play the Final on Saturday 27th March. (Apology here as it states 20th in the diary). We intend to play this Competition off the YELLOW plates and on the day lift/clean and place will not be allowed.
Mersey League If you wish to participate in playing for NGC in the league please enter your name on the sheet located just outside the entrance to the men’s locker room.
Half Way House. It has been decided to operate the “Half Way House” from 27th Feb. The rules are simple; if you use the facility please allow any team/player behind you to play through if they do not wish to stop. When rejoining the comp on the 10th tee please be considerate to those playing the 9th hole.

After the frustration of the snow, we’re back out on the course and have a variety of competition formats to keep you busy over the remainder of the winter season.
Results will be updated regularly and for those of you representing the club in the Mersey League, check out the specific section for fixtures and results as the season progresses. |

To encourage and help the members who have INACTIVE status with their handicaps, I am running 3 mid week Spring Comps in April.
If they enter all 3, their Inactive status will automatically (through the system now in place) be updated to full playing rights. The comps will be run on the following dates between 9.00am and 10.30am:
1st comp Wed 7th April 2nd comp Wed 14th April 3rd comp Wed 28th April

The sixth annual match against Carden Park will be played on Friday the 13th August at Northenden and the return at Carden (on the Cheshire) on Friday the 27th August.
The team of six pairs will be drawn and is open to all members. (List is up...just add your names and handicaps)
We are defending the Trophy so let’s get a good squad together.
£32 covers you for all golf...soup and sandwiches and a meal after the golf at both venues. It is always a good day on a cracking Cheshire Course at Carden. Long and tough it is well worth a visit.
Tee times...1.30 at Northenden and 2pm at Carden.

Away Day Golfaholics |

The 2nd Golfaholics away day took place @ Knutsford GC on Thursday 29th July 2010.
35 lucky members played single Stableford over 18 holes.
Result: 1st Andy Taylor (8) 38points (cpo) 2nd Gary Furlong (5) 38 points 3rd Lex Hughes (8) 36 points (cpo)
Other than some slight drizzle mid round the day was almost perfect.
The course which is a 9 holes course is located in perfect surroundings alongside Tatton Park. The club/staff from arrival looked after us and the delight of the day arrived with superb catering at dinner.
Well done Knutsford GC.
These events for 2011 will now be organised by the overall winner Andy Taylor.
